This 9ah battery is the big brother to the current 6Ah in the FlexVolt series. This development in battery technology allows users to power both 20V and 60V cordless power tools with the same battery.

When connected to a DEWALT 20V MAX power tool the battery pack will run in parallel*, allowing for an extended 9Ah capacity. Meanwhile when connected to the new range of 60V tools the capacity will reduce to 3Ah (higher voltage tools run more efficiently) by running in series*.

DEWALT has also release a range to 120V MAX cordless power tools, these tools use 2 of the DEWALT FLEXVOLT 60V 9Ah or 6Ah Batteries. Meaning high capacity tools such as the DEWALT Mitre Saw and Table Saw now have the ability to be fully cordless.

The DEWALT FLEXVOLT 60V 9Ah Battery will be backwards compatable with all DEWALT 20V MAX power tools. Charging will not be an issue, the 60V 9Ah battery is capable of charging on the current 20V charger before a new fast charger is released.

Very impressed with the latest innovation in battery technology. The Dewalt Flexvolt 9ah battery far exceeded my expectations and has fantastic runtimes in both 20v and 60v applications. The 9ah battery is compact and lightweight enough to be used with handhold tools, yet has the capacity to run high demand power tools such as the mitre saw.
